Eva-Lisa Janssen
Eva-Lisa Janssen is a social entrepreneur from the Netherlands and founded Ucademy at 23 years old. The 21st century asks for a complex set of skills and knowledge. The way universities are organized are no longer sufficient to arm students for the great challenges of this century. With a refugee problem, a climate change, and global political instability, students need to be braced with more humanistic and worldly knowledge.
Eva-Lisa took this matter into her own hands and changed the Dutch educational system. As a student, with a group of other interdisciplinary students, she created her own academy inside her university: Ucademy. At Ucademy students are mobilized and facilitated to create their own education. This education created courses like Intrinsic Motivation, Creative Thinking, and Judgement and prejudice, among other courses. Within months this movement reached national newspapers, grew to an international movement, was published in a book and won the Avans Innovation prize in 2017.
Now, three years later, Eva-Lisa is a speaker at educational congresses, she consults school board members, and is a Ucademy community manager for multiple universities.
